History

Building 1042 is one of seven structures at the former Naval Air Station Chase Field near Beeville that are individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Chase Field began as a converted municipal airport in 1943, became a permanent Navy installation after 1952, and served as a jet training base until it closed in 1993.
