The State Highway 79 Bridge carried traffic across the Red River between Byers, Texas and Waurika, Oklahoma. Completed in 1939 and dedicated in 1940, the roughly 2,255-foot structure featured 21 riveted-steel camelback pony-truss spans and was built jointly by the Texas and Oklahoma highway agencies at a cost near $340,000. The last camelback pony-truss bridge on a Texas state highway, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996 and demolished around 2018 after a replacement was built.
