History

The St. Elmo Hotel was built about 1895 in Henrietta and became one of the town's best-known landmarks. Among its guests were Comanche leader Quanah Parker, said to have married two of his wives there, and President Theodore Roosevelt during a tour of North Texas. After fire gutted its upper floors the hotel closed and never reopened; part of the lower floor later housed an antiques store.
