Utopia's Old Rock Store was built in 1873 of native stone for merchant R. H. Kincheloe by stonemason Joe Hastler and is considered the community's first building. The Kincheloe family helped plat the surrounding town, originally called Montana, donating land for churches, a school, and a community square. The two-story store was recorded as a Texas Historic Landmark in 1967.
