History

The Old Post Office marker recalls the early postal history of Utopia, a Hill Country community in Uvalde County. The area's post office moved from nearby Waresville to Utopia in 1883, and when the townsite was platted in 1884 the proposed name Montana was changed to Utopia. The post office became a focal point of the growing settlement.
