History

The St. John's A.F. & A.M. Lodge building on Front Street in Tyler was built in 1902 by St. John's Lodge No. 53, the oldest Masonic lodge in the city, chartered in 1849. Designed in the Colonial Revival style by architect Shirley Simons, the building still serves the lodge and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.
