History

Completed in 1932 at 800 Broadway, the Lubbock Post Office and Federal Building served as the city's post office and as the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas until 1968. Designed in a Classical Revival style resembling an Italian Renaissance palazzo, it reflects Lubbock's emergence as the economic center of the South Plains. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995, the long-vacant landmark was later rehabilitated into residences known as the Courthouse Lofts.
