This Spanish Renaissance Revival passenger and freight depot was built in Lubbock in 1928 at a cost of about $45,889, designed by Fort Worth architect Wyatt C. Hedrick to mark the arrival of a second major rail line into the city. It was named Lubbock's first Historic Landmark in 1979 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990. After the building was abandoned and later used as a restaurant, the City of Lubbock restored it as the Buddy Holly Center, honoring the Lubbock-born rock-and-roll pioneer.
