This marker in Loving County commemorates the Goodnight-Loving Trail, the cattle route blazed about 1866 by Charles Goodnight and Oliver Loving that ran from Texas through New Mexico toward Colorado. Loving, for whom the county is named, was wounded by Comanches in 1867 and died of his injuries; the marker was placed in 1936.
