History

The Katy Depot in Greenville is a Missouri, Kansas & Texas (Katy) Railway passenger station built in 1896 of limestone and red brick with sandstone wainscoting, originally distinguished by a two-story rotunda over the main waiting room that was removed in 1951. For nearly seventy years it was the town's point of arrival for ordinary travelers and visiting figures, including President Harry Truman, who stopped during his 1948 whistle-stop campaign. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997, it now houses the Greenville Railroad Museum.
