History

Central Christian Church in Greenville traces its congregation to 1879, when it was organized as the First Christian Church. The present Gothic Revival building at 2611 Wesley Street was completed in 1898-99 at a cost of about $23,000, featuring robust towers, art glass windows, and intricate brickwork, and is considered the oldest surviving church building in the city. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.
