Constructed of limestone and cast aluminum in the Modern style. The building features a central full height entry portico divided by full height engaged fluted square columns into three bays that were clad with cast aluminum panels and windows.

The Howard County Courthouse in Big Spring was built in 1953 to the design of architects Puckett & French, a four-story buff-brick building with an Art Deco interior of terrazzo floors and wainscoting. It is the county's third courthouse, following a 1908 sandstone building by Lang & Witchell. In 2024 it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a contributing resource to the Big Spring Downtown Historic District.
