History

Built in 1901, the Potton-Hayden House in Big Spring was the Victorian home of Joseph Potton, a master mechanic for the Texas & Pacific Railroad, an early civic leader, and the owner of the town's first automobile. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975, and the restored house is now operated as a museum by the Heritage Museum of Big Spring.
