History

The San Marcos Telephone Company erected this Spanish Colonial Revival office building in 1928 at 138 W. San Antonio Street; the stuccoed-brick structure featured peaked corner pilasters and a red barrel-tile pent roof and was known locally as the 'blue building.' The company was among the first in the area to employ women, and the building was added to the National Register in 1983. Despite its listing, it was demolished in 2019 to make way for a multifamily development.
