The Clark Hotel in Van Horn grew from a 1901 building that first held the city post office and a main portion built in 1905-06 by John Cox from concrete blocks made on site. When Culberson County was organized in 1911, the structure served as the county courthouse; in 1918 Fred Clark converted it into a hotel that became a community gathering place. The Culberson County Historical Society bought it in 1979 and opened it as the Clark Hotel Museum in 1980. It was listed on the National Register in 1979.
