The Santa Fe Railroad Depot in Brownwood was designed by Chicago architect Jarvis Hunt and built in 1909 by the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railway, featuring solid red brick with stucco, broad round arches, and a hipped tile roof. A connected Harvey House restaurant and hotel was added in 1911, and passenger traffic peaked during World War II. Listed on the National Register in 1976, the complex now houses the city's visitor center.
