This Bastrop house was the home of Beverly and Lula Kerr, the couple who in 1914 built the adjacent Kerr Hall (now the Kerr Community Center) on a lot directly behind their residence to serve the town's African-American community. Beverly Kerr died in 1941 and Lula in 1944, and the neighboring hall passed to a community association shortly after. The house is a contributing property in Bastrop's National Register of Historic Places listing of December 22, 1978.
