History

This house at 1005 Hill Street in Bastrop traces to land granted in 1835 to Greenleaf Fisk, the first district clerk of Bastrop County, who built the dwelling about 1836–37. It later became home to two veterans of the Battle of San Jacinto, Jesse Halderman and Campbell Taylor. Recognized as a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark in 1968, the house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on February 25, 2004.
