The Confederate Reunion Grounds is a Texas historic site near Mexia in Limestone County, at the confluence of the Navasota River and Jack's Creek. From 1889 to 1946, Confederate Civil War veterans and their families gathered at the roughly 70-acre site each summer, camping under bur oaks for speeches, concerts, dances, and fundraising for the families of deceased soldiers. Historic features include an 1893 dance pavilion, a 1920s pump house, and the Civil War-era cannon 'Old Val Verde.' It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on April 2, 1976, designated a Texas State Historic Site in 1983, and is operated by the Texas Historical Commission.
