The First National Bank of Farwell was chartered in 1908 as one of the early financial institutions in the young Parmer County seat. The bank closed in 1910 when city funds became depleted and was rechartered in 1912 as the Texas State Bank of Farwell. The building marks Farwell's early commercial development along the Texas-New Mexico state line.
