Nacogdoches banker and state legislator Eugene Blount commissioned local architect Diedrich Rulfs to design this Beaux Arts brick home, built in 1923 on the former site of Republic of Texas leader Thomas J. Rusk's house. As president of the Commercial State Bank, Blount helped persuade the legislature to place Stephen F. Austin Normal College in Nacogdoches. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992.
