Chartered by the Republic of Texas in 1845, Nacogdoches University erected this two-story Greek Revival brick building in 1859, making it the only surviving building constructed for a university founded during the Republic of Texas. It served as a Confederate hospital during the Civil War and now operates as a museum run by the Nacogdoches Federation of Women's Clubs. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1971.
