History

The Mills County Courthouse in Goldthwaite is a three-story Classical Revival building constructed in 1913 of brick with a cast stone basement. It was designed by San Antonio architect Henry Truman Phelps and replaced the county's first courthouse of 1890, which burned in 1912. The courthouse was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 8, 2000, and later designated a Texas State Antiquities Landmark and a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark.
