The Menard County Courthouse was completed in 1931–1932 to the Art Deco design of Elmer G. Withers of Fort Worth, its stepped massing and cast-stone detailing serving as a prototype for two other Texas courthouses. It replaced earlier courthouses of 1880 and 1886. The building was restored and rededicated in 2006 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
