The Waco Hippodrome opened on February 7, 1914 as a venue for silent films, vaudeville, and civic events, its first bill featuring a live seal act, an orchestra, and a magic act. After a 1928 fire the building was enlarged and remodeled in a Spanish Colonial/Mediterranean Revival style with a light stucco façade, clay-tile roof, and cast-stone ornament. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983, it was restored beginning in 2012 and now operates as a concert hall and event space.
