History

The Old Cook Home in Lampasas is associated with the family of Judge J. G. Cook, a noted local lawyer who acquired the property in 1890. The Cooks had come to Texas about 1856 and bought area land in 1861. The Victorian-style house is remembered for features such as a large bay window, a solid walnut staircase, and three fireplaces; the state marker was placed in 1968.
