Rodgers Wade traces its origins to 1856, when James W. Rodgers bought a Paris cabinet shop and gradually expanded into furniture manufacturing, adding steam power and a lumber-planing mill by 1879. After Rodgers's death his sons brought in John William Wade as a partner, and the firm was renamed the Rodgers-Wade Furniture Company. Its Paris complex grew to include a five-story rail-served factory and several buildings, making it one of the largest furniture operations in the Southwest and among the oldest continuously operating businesses in Texas.
