The Edna Theatre opened in March 1950 as a flagship of the Long Theatre Company, designed in the Moderne style by Houston's W. D. Peck and Company with a towering illuminated vertical fin and a curving multicolored neon marquee. It served as Jackson County's entertainment center until closing in 1978 as television spread, and local residents have since worked to restore it. The theatre is recognized on the National Register of Historic Places.
