History

The Charles S. Cock House, built in 1867 of native limestone by pioneer and future San Marcos mayor Charles S. Cock, is the oldest surviving residence in San Marcos and the city's only stone Greek Revival house. It was the first property in San Marcos placed on the National Register of Historic Places, listed in 1973, and today operates as a museum run by the Heritage Association of San Marcos.
