The English-German School in Cuero grew from a lot the school association purchased at 201 East Newman Street in 1877, reflecting the bilingual community of German and Anglo settlers in DeWitt County. Facing demolition after the building was condemned in 2014, the historic schoolhouse was donated to the Chisholm Trail Heritage Museum and relocated behind the museum for preservation.
