The First Baptist Church of Rusk carries Texas Historical Marker No. 15672. The original marker stood at the congregation's old building but was broken and lost during construction; parts later turned up inside the old church and on the doorstep of the local Heritage Center Museum. The Cherokee County Historical Commission reassembled the marker and rededicated it in front of the church's newer building on Fourth Street in Rusk.
