The Cherokee County Courthouse in Rusk is the fourth to serve the county and was built in 1940-1941 with assistance from the federal Works Progress Administration. Designed by the architectural firm Gill & Bennett, the building is faced in native red and white limestone and features a central block flanked by two-and-one-half-story wings, large windows, and decorative Art Deco grillwork. It was designated a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark in 1991.
