The Stillman House was built in 1850 in the Greek Revival style by Henry Miller for Charles Stillman, the merchant and steamboat entrepreneur who founded Brownsville in 1848-50, and his bride Elizabeth Goodrich. Later owners included the Trevino family, who reportedly hosted General Porfirio Diaz in 1876 as he planned his march on the Mexican presidency. Great-grandson Chauncey D. Stillman purchased and restored the house in 1958 and donated it to the city; it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979 and operates as the Stillman House Museum.
