History

Jefferson Beaumont, born in Carter County, Kentucky, in 1801, was an early settler and public official on the Texas coast who served as Chief Justice of Calhoun County from 1848 to 1856. He died in 1865, and the State of Texas placed a marker to him at Port Lavaca in 1936.
