The Brown County Courthouse in Brownwood was built in 1917-1918 in the Classical Revival style to designs by architect Henry T. Phelps. The new building incorporated interior walls and vaults salvaged from the county's previous courthouse, designed in 1884 by the Waco firm Dodson & Dudley. It stands on landscaped grounds at the center of Brownwood.
