John Smith Davenport Byrom (1798-1837) was a Georgia native who settled in the Brazoria region in 1830. A delegate to the Consultation of 1835, he signed the Texas Declaration of Independence in 1836 and helped prepare official copies for distribution to Texas towns. He is buried in the Old Columbia Cemetery at West Columbia.
