Thaddeus Constantine Bell (1822-1871) belonged to a family among Stephen F. Austin's 'Old 300' colonists. He was the son of Josiah Hughes Bell, founder of the Columbia settlements that became East and West Columbia and briefly served as capital of the Republic of Texas. Thaddeus is interred with other family members at Old Columbia Cemetery in West Columbia.
