History
The Jens and Kari Ringness Farm is one of the founding Norwegian homesteads of Bosque County, established after Jens Ringness arrived with the first Norwegian families in 1854 and claimed land along Neils Creek. He first built a two-room log cabin, then in 1859 raised a larger six-room dobbelhus to house his growing family and provide guest quarters for newly arriving immigrants from Norway. The Ringness House is remembered as the site of the first Lutheran service held in Bosque County, and the farm was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on July 22, 1983.
