The Glen Flora plantation house in Wharton County was built between about 1860 and 1866 and by 1881 was the home of W. H. Hood, who a decade later helped found the nearby town of Glen Flora and gave it the name of his plantation. Most of the house was later lost to fire, and the Texas Historical Commission marker, dedicated in 2016, is displayed at the county historical museum.
