History

The San Saba County Courthouse, the third to serve the county, was built in 1911 and is a well-preserved Classical Revival building of brick, stucco and sandstone with three-story classical columns, rusticated sandstone quoins and about 21,000 square feet of space over its main floors. It was designed by architect Walter W. Chamberlin, who was responsible for more than two dozen courthouses across the southern United States. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2003 as the continuing center of county government since 1911 and an excellent example of a Classical Revival public building.
