The Blount House is one of San Augustine's early Greek Revival residences associated with the prominent Blount family, whose members included Stephen W. Blount, a signer of the Texas Declaration of Independence. Dating to the Republic of Texas era, the house was documented by the Historic American Buildings Survey in the 1930s and was among the town's historic homes later restored by preservation architect Raiford Stripling.
