History

This marker honors Joseph Benedict Beauchamp (1814-1862), a Kentucky native who served in the Army of Texas in 1835 and took part in the storming of Bexar during the Texas Revolution. He and his wife, Angelina Lindsey Beauchamp, are buried at Old Macedonia Cemetery near Carthage, where the state placed a grave marker in 1967.
