History

The Palo Pinto County Courthouse at 520 Oak Street is the third courthouse to serve the county, following buildings of 1857 and 1882. The present three-story Moderne building with Renaissance Revival elements was constructed in 1940-1942 by the Work Projects Administration to a design by Fort Worth architect Preston M. Geren, Sr. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
