The Motley County Courthouse in Matador was built in 1948 to designs by architect Wyatt C. Hedrick, a two-story brick building whose taller central block steps above the flanking bays. It is at least the county's third courthouse: the first, erected in 1891 the same year the county was organized, burned in 1893. The building stands on the high ground on the north side of downtown Matador.
