Designed by Peterson & Stuckey and modeled on the Franklin County courthouse, it has an efficient eighteen-room plan with corner windows to maximize natural light and ventilation. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979, was later used as the Morris County Museum, and was superseded by a new courthouse built in 1972.
