George Green (1813-1885) was a Maryland native who came to Texas in 1835 and fought at San Jacinto in Captain Jesse Billingsley's company, reportedly aiding in the capture of Santa Anna. He settled in Milam County, worked as a ranger and surveyor, and is buried at Cameron; his marker was placed by the state in 1962.
