History

The John Wesley Mann House, known as East Terrace, was built in 1873-74 at 100 Mill Street on the east bank of the Brazos River for Waco industrialist and Confederate veteran John Wesley Mann. It is a rare Southern example of Italianate architecture, with tall hooded windows, bracketed cornices, and an 1884 entertainment wing that included a ballroom for lavish parties. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972, it is now a house museum operated by the Historic Waco Foundation.
