This bridge just west of Liberty carries traffic over the Trinity River on what is now U.S. 90, the former State Highway 3 known as the Southern National Highway, linking Liberty and Dayton with Houston and Beaumont. Documented in the Historic Bridges of Texas, 1866-1945 multiple-property study, it meets National Register Criterion C for engineering at the state level of significance and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.
