History

The Schubert House is a two-story late Greek Revival home built about 1879 by Wendish immigrant August Schubert for his large family, on Giddings's courthouse square across from the Lee County Courthouse. Its central-hall plan and finely paneled front doors are characteristic early-Texas features. A Recorded Texas Historic Landmark, the house now serves as the Lee County Heritage Center museum.
