History

Creed Taylor was born in Alabama in 1820 and, at age fifteen, helped defend the Gonzales 'Come and Take It' cannon that opened the Texas Revolution, later fighting at Concepcion, the Grass Fight, and the siege of Bexar. He joined the Texas Rangers in 1841, fought Comanches under Jack Hays at Bandera Pass, and served in the Mexican War at battles including Monterrey and Buena Vista. Taylor settled in Kimble County and died in 1906, buried in Noxville Cemetery; a marker was placed in his honor.
